Candle care

Better burns start with simple habits.

A little care helps candles burn more evenly, keeps vessels cleaner, and makes every pour feel more intentional. Always follow the product label first, then use these shop-wide basics as your guide.

Shop candles

Burn within sight

Never leave a lit candle unattended.

Keep clear space

Avoid children, pets, drafts, and flammable materials.

Care between burns

Trim, cool fully, and keep the wax pool clean.

Trim before each burn

Keep the wick trimmed to about 1/4 inch before lighting. A shorter wick helps control flame height and keeps the vessel cleaner.

Respect the first burn

Let the first wax pool reach close to the edge of the vessel. This helps the candle build a cleaner memory and reduces tunneling.

Limit burn time

Most candles do best with a 2 to 4 hour burn window unless the product label says otherwise. Long burns can overheat the vessel or wick.

Keep the wax pool clear

Remove wick trimmings, matches, dust, and debris before lighting. A clean wax pool supports a safer, steadier burn.

Use a heat-safe surface

Place candles on a stable, heat-safe surface away from shelves, curtains, papers, drafts, vents, and anything flammable.

Know when to stop

Stop using a candle when about 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning too low can overheat the vessel.
